Holy Cow, This Is Our Story!

Hi fellow (and soon-to-be) tallow enthusiasts! I’m Elena Akbaş, and I’m that friend—you know, the one always saying “there’s an herb for that!” or “this tea can heal that!”.

I’ve always believed that there’s a natural cure for literally anything. So, I've always been inclined to be mindful of what I consume, but I've never associated consumption with what I'm putting on my skin. Little did I know that my entire view on beauty and wellness would soon shift when I became pregnant with my daughter, Catalina.

Her tiny heartbeat inspired me to start researching every single ingredient I was using because I wanted to ensure that she would enter the world healthy and thriving. So, while studying the products I'd blindly been using I came to the realization that nearly all everything that was in my cosmetic and skincare collection were filled with toxins! Even the ones I bought specifically because of they said "natural" on the packaging.

I learned "green words" are a branding tactic used by companies to trick the consumer and create a diversion to lead our eyes away from ingredient list. Needless to say, everything with artificial fragrance, dyes, etc. made its way into the trash. I then made the decision to do something, to fight. Big "Clean" Skincare made an enemy they would regret!

My standard for any skincare product needed to answer the following with a resounding “yes”- Could I safely eat this? If I couldn’t it was not going on my skin, much less Catalina’s. So, of course, this sent me on a quest to find something special, something totally natural AND edible. As it turns out, beef tallow checks all those boxes!

If you’ve ever purchased a lip balm from us you’ll notice on the back that we’ve got the bible verse Ephesians 2:10 which reads “You are God’s masterpiece.” We’ve placed that on our packaging to underline not only our values, but to underline how we view you, the customer. We promise to steward our place in the market to produce high quality products that exist solely to serve you and your health well.

I’ve been conscious about building The Good Moo up in such a way that it exists to nurture God’s people and treat you with integrity, grace and love. We are The Good Moo serving a Good God!
